LASER TATTOO REMOVAL
At Studio Mina Skin, we use SharpLight’s advanced Q-switched Nd:YAG laser technology, a clinically proven method for safe and effective tattoo removal for Fitzpatrick skin types I–VI. Our laser delivers ultra-short, high-energy pulses of light that selectively target tattoo pigment while minimizing impact to the surrounding skin. These rapid pulses create a controlled photoacoustic effect, breaking the ink into microscopic particles that your body’s immune system gradually clears over time. This precise approach allows us to safely treat a wide range of tattoo colors and skin tones with customized settings based on your tattoo and skin type.
Q-Switch vs. Pico: What’s the Difference?
There are two main laser technologies used in tattoo removal: Q-Switch and Pico.
Q-Switch lasers use nanosecond pulses to break down ink efficiently and are ideal for deeper, older, and more saturated tattoos.
Pico lasers, while newer, use ultra-short picosecond pulses and can sometimes require more sessions and generate more heat, which increases the risk of irritation—especially on sensitive or darker skin tones.
Q-Switched Nd:YAG Laser Tattoo Removal
Our Q-Switched Nd:YAG laser uses ultra-short, high-energy pulses to target tattoo ink beneath the skin. This advanced laser technology is safe for Fitzpatrick skin types I–VI when performed with proper assessment and conservative settings. It works by breaking ink particles into microscopic fragments, allowing your body’s natural immune system to gradually clear the pigment over time.
What this technology offers:
Targeted treatment using 1064 nm and 532 nm wavelengths, allowing us to address a wide range of tattoo colours
Effective fading of black, dark inks, reds, oranges, and many blues and greens, depending on ink composition and depth
A well-established laser technology used globally for tattoo removal and pigmentation treatments
Customized treatment settings based on ink density, tattoo age, placement, and individual skin characteristics
Each treatment plan is fully personalized, taking into account skin tone, ink colours, tattoo layering or cover-ups, sun exposure history, and overall skin health to maximize results while prioritizing skin safety.
FAQ’S
-
Every tattoo is unique, and the number of sessions required varies from person to person. Factors that affect the number of treatments include ink depth, ink density, tattoo size, colors used, age of the tattoo, and your skin type.
On average, 8–12 treatments are recommended to achieve optimal fading or removal. Treatments are spaced out to allow your body enough time to naturally break down and eliminate the fragmented ink particles.
-
Most tattoos can be treated successfully, but some inks are more challenging than others.
Black and dark inks respond the best
Lighter colors (such as yellow, teal, or pastel tones) may require more sessions due to reduced laser absorption
White ink is the most unpredictable and may not respond to laser treatment at all
That said, the majority of tattoos can be significantly faded or removed. Your pre-treatment consultation will allow us to give you realistic expectations based on your specific tattoo.
-
Tattoo removal sessions are typically scheduled every 6–8 weeks.
This spacing is very important. It allows:
Your immune system time to clear the shattered ink particles
Your skin to fully heal between treatments
A reduced risk of scarring or unwanted side effects
Longer intervals often lead to better results, not slower ones.
-
Yes! Tattoo removal is commonly used to lighten tattoos for cover-ups.
The number of sessions needed depends on:
How dark and saturated the original tattoo is
The colors present
The style and coverage of the new tattoo
If the new design is bold, darker, or less detailed, fewer sessions may be needed. However, if the desired cover-up includes fine details, light shading, or visible negative space, more extensive fading — or even near-complete removal — may be recommended.
During your consultation, we’ll assess your tattoo and work with your future cover-up goals in mind.
-
Tattoo removal is a process, and it’s important to go in informed.
Here’s what to keep in mind:
Patience is key — tattoo removal cannot be completed in one session
Results happen gradually as your body clears ink over time
Removal can be an investment, especially for larger or darker tattoos
We offer payment plans and unlimited tattoo removal packages (up to 2 years) to make treatments more accessible
Our goal is safe, effective results — not rushed treatments.
